Spiral stairs are not just a passageway, but part of the building’s structure and functionality. The spaces, loads, purpose of use, and regulations determine what kind of staircase actually works in the project. We always approach spiral stairs through the whole picture. Long experience from various projects helps in choosing the structure, treads, and railings so that the staircase is safe to use, easy to install, and stands the test of time.
How LK Portaat’s spiral stairs are made
Spiral stairs are designed here according to the project’s requirements and manufactured in our own production facility. Already at the quotation stage, illustrative images with 3D models are often included, which make it easy to understand and approve the whole before decisions are made. Each staircase goes through a clear quality control process, where dimensions and connections to buildings are checked before delivery.
The modular structure facilitates transportation and speeds up installation on site. CE-certified operations and documentation are ready, and they don’t need to be requested separately. When a staircase leaves us, it must be ready to be installed, not to be modified on site
And yes, we naturally deliver to the entire area of Finland and why not to Sweden as well.
Design and modular components are our strengths
Spiral stairs are suitable for both indoor and outdoor projects, and the scale varies from a few steps to stairs over 100 meters. The structure is based on modular parts, such as treads and railings, some of which are ready in stock. This speeds up deliveries and facilitates project scheduling. The stairs are always designed according to the project’s conditions, so that the end result is functional, easy to install, and durable in use.

Railing models
The railing is the most visible part of a spiral staircase. Our range includes three different standard railings. Explore the collection and compare the options!
LK-Universal Railing
The universal railing is a child-safe railing suitable for all locations, both indoors and outdoors. Choose the universal railing when you want a quick and cost-effective spiral staircase.

LK-Industrial Railing
Cost-effective railing for industrial projects. The railing can be supplied with one to four intermediate rails.

LK-Welded Rod Railing
The welded rod railing is a stylish railing for demanding projects. The railing is manufactured to order. The premium of rod railings!

- Curved handrail
Handrails
The handrail always goes over the railing. All railing models can also be equipped with additional or interior handrails according to the requirements of the site.
LK-Additional handrail
All our spiral staircase railing models can be equipped with an additional handrail, which is attached to the railing at the desired height, usually installed at a height of 900mm from the step surface. It facilitates the movement of smaller users on the stairs.

LK-Interior handrail

Tread models
There are several different tread models available for the spiral staircase. Choose the tread for your spiral staircase according to the purpose of use and the project.
Grating tread 34×76
Classic! The grating tread gets the job done reliably and without issues all year round. The tread is made of anti-slip grating, so slipping is not a concern even in the harshest weather conditions.

A tread made of denser grating with small openings. Choose this when you need a grating tread through which items or high heels cannot pass.

Tear plate tread
Hot-dip galvanized tear plate tread withstands stress for decades tirelessly. Do not use outdoors, the tread is slippery in winter!

Carpet inlay tread
You determine the depth of the tread recess, we manufacture it. After this, you can surface the tread with the material of your choice.

Surface treatment and additional information
The spiral staircase is basically always hot-dip galvanized, but we can also provide painted stairs. Choose the color for your spiral staircase according to the project.
- Surface treatment is basically always hot-dip galvanizing, excluding LK-Additional or interior handrail, whose surface treatment is magnelis or painting in RAL color chart shades
- Outdoor stairs are always basically at least hot-dip galvanized, so that they withstand weather variations
- Powder coating according to RAL color chart possible, special colors by agreement
- In painted products, fasteners are hot-dip galvanized/stainless steel
- Painted products are standard in semi-gloss shade, unless otherwise agreed
- The surface of hot-dip galvanized and painted products is not completely smooth, so please take this into account when ordering stairs

LK Porras Design System (LKDS) is our way to make stair design faster and more reliably feasible. It combines design, dimensioning, and production into the same whole, so that solutions don’t just stay on paper.
